2. The Santa Barbara-based '90s alt-rockers Summercamp, one word — not to be confused with the London-based 2010s indie pop band Summer Camp, two words — broke up in 2001, and they haven't performed since a hometown reunion show in the summer of 2015. That's about to change. The post ’90s Alt-Rockers Summercamp Announce Reunion Show appeared first on Stereogum. View the full article

7. The Mountain Goats' recent album Through This Fire Across From Peter Balkan features a bunch of guests, from Lin-Manuel Miranda to Mikaela Davis to Josh Kaufman. The coolest name on the list — and he'd be the coolest name on most lists — is Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson, who played on two tracks. The addition of a famous rock-star bassist was well-timed, seeing as the Goats' longtime bass player Peter Hughes left the band last year. And conveniently, the famous rock-star bassist was available when John Darnielle and friends went on TV to promote the new record. 8. In 2015, Tobias Jesso Jr. released his debut album Goon with a great deal of critical and promotional clamor. He then quickly disappeared from the spotlight in favor of a fruitful behind-the-scenes career that led him to win the first ever Grammy for Songwriter Of The Year, among other highlights. Jesso returned after 10 years this fall with his second album, s h i n e. And now he's out there promoting it a bit. 9. This is my 17th annual Oscars-style tribute to all the bands who broke up in the past year, and every year it gets more difficult to figure out which acts are really over. I put plenty of research into it, but already some of the groups from last year’s montage — REO Speedwagon, Mr. Big, METZ — have reunited, even if just for one night. Doesn’t anybody stay apart anymore? The post In Memoriam: Bands We Lost In 2025 appeared first on Stereogum. View the full article
10. It’s that time of year when bands clear out their archives, dispensing demos and covers galore while the music industry waits for the calendar to turn over to January. The latest little treat comes from Black Country, New Road, who have followed up this year’s Forever Howlong with a cover of an absolute classic. 12. Dijon had a huge 2025. He helped to shape major releases by Justin Bieber and Bon Iver, leading to a Grammy nomination for Producer Of The Year. He appeared in the year's most acclaimed movie, One Battle After Another. And his own album Baby was a sensation, carrying him to SNL and landing him on a bunch of year-end lists including our own. He's rounding out the year by sharing demos for "Yamaha," which cracked both our overall best songs list and our list of 2025's best pop tracks. The demos are available via an app called Samply; you can listen at the link without downloading the app. The post Dijon Shares “Yamaha” Demos, Says His Favorite Album Of The Year Is Los Thuthanaka appeared first on Stereogum.
