  4. Hayley Williams has done a lot of touring with her band Paramore, but she’s never actually been out on the road as a solo artist before. She was supposed to tour in 2020, but COVID fucked everything up. Finally, though, it’s about to happen. After releasing her very good new album Ego Death At The Bachelorette Party and jumping up onstage with about a million people, Williams finally announced her first-ever solo tour over the weekend. In March, she’ll cross the US and Europe with Water From Your Eyes and Snuggle. With that tour, she’s doing her part to push back against the shitty, automated weirdness that has made the concert-ticket landscape so bleak in recent years. View the full article

  7. Anytime a record comes out on the Flenser, the Bay Area label that specializes in dark, avant-garde underground music, that record is worth hearing. The forthcoming Ash Souvenir is coming out on the Flenser, and it’s from two Flenser artists, so you already know it’s going to be something. Ragana, the great Pacific Northwest queer black metal duo, recorded Ash Souvenir with Drowse, a Portland artist who makes music that floats between ambient drone and indie rock. It’s an inspired pairing, and Ash Souvenir is a powerful piece of work. View the full article

  9. About a month ago, Taylor Swift released her new album The Life Of A Showgirl. It sold a bajillion copies right away, and then lots of people hated it. Not me, though. I thought it was good. What? Shut up. Like you don’t like anything embarrassing. All the music you like is so cool. Jeez. Anyway. Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield agrees with me, at least to the extent that she’s willing to perform that album’s title track on a stage, in front of people who might have cameras in their phones. 13. Nate Amos teams with Rachel Brown in Water From Your Eyes, and he used to team with Lily Konigsberg in My Idea (or maybe that band is still active, which would be cool). But he’s also accumulated a prolific solo catalog under the alias This Is Lorelei. Last year This Is Lorelei experienced a massive glow-up by signing to the esteemed indie label Double Double Whammy and releasing the instant classic album Box For Buddy, Box For Star. That was sort of his Teens Of Denial, and now he’s gone back and made his Teens Of Style, re-recording some of the best tracks from his DIY Bandcamp era for a new album called Holo Boy. 14. I’ve been revisiting Cootie Catcher’s Shy At First quite a bit since it came out back in March, and it’s looking like there’s a lot more to come in the near future. Today the Toronto indie-pop band have announced their signing to Carpark Records with a new single called “Gingham Dress.” View the full article
  15. Next week, Chicago post-punk experimenters Dendrons will return with their new album Indiana. We’ve already posted their hazy hypnotic single “Tuck Me Under,” and now they’ve shared the tingly, minimal new track “B4.” I like the mathematical precision on this one. It really holds back, and it cuts off when it seems like it’s just about to build to a raging climax. Check it out below. View the full article
  16. Are you watching The Chair Company, Tim Robinson’s new HBO show? I’m watching it, but man, it’s not always easy. I’m watching because the show is obviously good. Robinson has figured out ways to translate his absurdist social-ineptness comedy into the conspiracy-thriller genre, and he’s created a truly compelling fusion. It’s just hard to watch someone make so many bad decisions in a row. I did two episodes back-to-back once, and that was a mistake. You need to space those bad boys out. View the full article

  21. Unfortunately, I haven't watched any of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Do you know why? It's because of the Quinn guy and what he did in Avengers : Infinity Wars letting jus emotion get the better of him which had Thanos escape from the grip they had on him.
  22. After completing watching The Witcher season 4, I was completely disappointed. It was a waste of time but I had to watch it just to key in with the debate on how bad it was diverting away from the source material.
  23. I'm actually the person that does it to myself with making a song get stuck in my head recently. When I come across a very good song, I'll have it in repeat playing it over and over again for days.
  24. I would say that listening to radio station in the car is one of the most preferred place so many people like listening to music when they are not streaming.
