  2. Gay Meat: Not necessarily a band name you want to go around recommending to people willy-nilly, but music worth recommending nonetheless. Ex-Museum Mouth frontman Karl Kuehn has been releasing catchy, pensive, emo-leaning indie rock under the moniker for a while, and now he’s got a new label home at Skeletal Lightning, who are releasing Gay… The post Gay Meat – “Love For Fun” appeared first on Stereogum. 5. Hey, here's something cool! Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman are two musical entities who make perfect sense together. Lenderman was part of the studio band on Waxahatchee's excellent 2024 album Tigers Blood, and the two of them sang the gorgeous duet "Right Back To It" together. Just a few weeks ago, we got the surprise self-titled album from Snocaps, Katie Crutchfield's new band with her sister Allison, which also includes Lenderman and Brad Cook. Snocaps have a few shows coming up. And next year, Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman will head out on a proper tour together. 7. Billy Hart doesn't like the term jazz. Throughout his recently published autobiography, Oceans Of Time, he uses the phrase "America's classical music." And, I mean, if anybody's earned the right to define their music on their own terms, it's Billy Hart. The post Billy Hart, Moving In All Directions At Once appeared first on Stereogum. 8. Over the weekend, we learned that fast-rising Dijon will make his Saturday Night Live debut on the show's next episode, serving as musical guest while old favorite Melissa McCarthy hosts for the second time. 10. Director Edgar Wright insists that his new film The Running Man is not a remake of the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger joint. Instead, it's another, more faithful adaptation of the book that Stephen King published under his Richard Bachman alias in 1982. I saw it over the weekend, and it definitely has a very different vibe from the '80s action classic. In the sole nod to the previous Running Man, we learn that in this new corporate-controlled dystopia, Schwarzenegger's face is on the $100 bill. And I completely missed that the person conveying that information is Julia Cumming, leader of the New York indie rock trio Sunflower Bean. 11. Last November we named Man/Woman/Chainsaw a Band To Watch, around the same time the London art-rock quintet shared their EP Eazy Peazy. Earlier this year they shared the singles “MadDog” and “Adam & Steve,” and today they’re back with another one called “Only Girl.” The new single also marks Man/Woman/Chainsaw’s debut release for their new… The post Man/Woman/Chainsaw – “Only Girl” appeared first on Stereogum. 12. In December 2021, the South Florida hardcore band Method Of Doubt released their full-length debut Staring At Patterns, and I fucking loved it. In ways that reminded me of contemporaries like Mil-Spec, Method Of Doubt took the sincere, chest-pounding sound of classic melodic hardcore and made it sound new and immediate.
