2. The New Pornographers were blindsided by an extremely unfortunate turn of events in April when Joe Seiders, who had been the power-pop group's drummer for the past decade, was arrested on charges including possession of child pornography. The band immediately severed ties with Seiders and has mostly stayed off the radar since then, save for some Substack posts from frontman A.C. Newman. Today, Newman has given his first interview since the Seiders debacle, and the New Pornographers have announced plans to get back on the road. 3. It’s been an extremely busy year for Kneecap, and it’s not over yet. When the Belfast dance-rap trio released their last single “Sayōnara” in September, group member Mo Chara was still facing wildly overstated terrorism charges in London. That case has since been thrown out, and now Kneecap have come back with a new Irish-language… The post Kneecap – “No Comment” (Feat. Sub Focus) appeared first on Stereogum. View the full article
4. Earlier this year, the experimental New York rock band YHWH Nailgun impressed a whole lot of people with their debut album 45 Pounds. Since then, they’ve played a whole lot of festivals and built their name up a bunch more. Now, they’ve shared a very different version of “Weaving,” a track that the New York… The post YHWH Nailgun – “Weaving” (LEYA Cover) appeared first on Stereogum. View the full article
5. The YouTube channel Soft White Underbelly features interviews with "people who are frequently invisible in society—the unhoused, the sex worker, the chronic drug user, the runaway, the gang member, the poor and the sick." A new episode on the channel posted three days ago features Cameron Heacock, former frontman of the Minneapolis nu-metal band American Head Charge. In the 45-minute interview, Heacock's first public appearance in seven years, he discusses his current life: unhoused, living on the streets of Los Angeles, addicted to fentanyl. 6. Kai Slater is obsessed with the past. For those of us who share his interests, that's working out splendidly. Slater, a 21-year-old Chicago singer-songwriter, first gained renown as a member of Lifeguard, a trio whose noisy, melodic post-punk songs turn '70s and '80s classics into rocket fuel. He dresses like a mod dandy and publishes a handmade zine titled for NEU!'s krautrock classic "Hallogallo." It's not just that he devours the stylistic palette of the 20th century underground; he's also keeping the flame for its DIY ethos, gritty and grounded in community. 7. Oxis only began putting her music out on Bandcamp in 2023, but it’s been a busy couple of years: The maritime-minded producer, who just wrapped up a tour supporting Magdalena Bay, is already about to release her eighth full-length album. The appropriately-titled Oxis 8 arrives in January, and Oxis is announcing the record today with… The post Oxis Announces New Album Oxis 8: Hear “Guili” appeared first on Stereogum. 8. At the end of this week, Oregon-based singer-songwriters Haley Heynderickx and Max García Conover will release their second collaborative album, What Of Our Nature. The pair shared writing duties for the project, trading off songs from opposite corners of the country (Conover was based in Maine at the time) while taking inspiration from Woody Guthrie… The post Haley Heynderickx & Max García Conover – “to each their dot” & “This Morning I Am Born Again” appeared first on Stereogum. 9. Geese's new album Getting Killed is undoubtedly awesome, but in this economy, you don't become the buzziest band in Brooklyn just by putting out an awesome album. Amid the Getting Killed hype, Cameron Winter and company have also earned a reputation for their covers over the past few months, whether they're doing a Springsteen hit for an Xbox commercial or going viral for a live studio rendition of New Radicals' "You Get What You Give." Geese are playing a pair of proper hometown shows later this week, but first, they took over Manhattan's famed Blue Note Jazz Club last night for an intimate set that featured no Geese songs at all. 10. We're getting a lot of 2026 festival lineups today. Daytona Beach's Welcome To Rockville fest isn't the best of them, but it's almost certainly the biggest. Welcome To Rockville might be the king of what's known in certain circles as the racetrack festivals -- the ones with lineups built on metal and on the kind of stuff that gets played on active-rock radio. These festivals are big, and they bring in tons of acts. Next year's Welcome To Rockville will come to the Daytona International Speedway May 7-10, and it'll feature a lineup that includes stadium-sized headliners My Chemical Romance, Guns N' Roses, the Foo Fighters, and Bring Me The Horizon. 23. Gay Meat: Not necessarily a band name you want to go around recommending to people willy-nilly, but music worth recommending nonetheless. 25. Hey, here's something cool! Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman are two musical entities who make perfect sense together. Lenderman was part of the studio band on Waxahatchee's excellent 2024 album Tigers Blood, and the two of them sang the gorgeous duet "Right Back To It" together. Just a few weeks ago, we got the surprise self-titled album from Snocaps, Katie Crutchfield's new band with her sister Allison, which also includes Lenderman and Brad Cook. Snocaps have a few shows coming up. And next year, Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman will head out on a proper tour together. 27. Billy Hart doesn't like the term jazz. Throughout his recently published autobiography, Oceans Of Time, he uses the phrase "America's classical music." And, I mean, if anybody's earned the right to define their music on their own terms, it's Billy Hart. The post Billy Hart, Moving In All Directions At Once appeared first on Stereogum.
