  2. Next Friday is Halloween, and it’s also the release date for the new Florence + The Machine album Everybody Scream. That should be fun! We’ve already heard the title track and “One Of The Greats,” and now Florence Welch has announced plans to hit arenas across North America next spring. If you’ve never seen Florence live, it’s a true spectacle. Her best songs sound huge, and she’s got the voice to deliver them. I don’t know if I would’ve expected her to headline arenas, but that sounds like a good night out to me. View the full article
  3. Imogen Heap has magic brewing. Today, she’s released a new song called “I AM___,” which actually is a mega single combining the songs “What Have You Done To Me?,” “Noise,” and latest track “Aftercare” in a continuous piece, which is how it was originally meant to be heard. The song also comes with a 13:33-minute experimental music video by London-based Ukrainian director and editor Daria Korsak. View the full article
  4. Florence Road are only getting better. The quartet from Wicklow, Ireland released their debut mixtape this past June and have continued their streak with a some one-off singles. Today, they’ve released a new song called “Miss,” which begins acoustic and tender but builds into searing rock catharsis. It sounds like their strongest release yet. View the full article
  5. The fast-rising Chicago rapper/producer BabyChiefDoIt is an actual teeanger, and he looks like he’s in fifth grade. His music is extremely hard, and it draws on the tradition of Chicago drill that Chief Keef established more than a decade ago. But there’s something studied about BabyChief’s approach. He raps with crisp clarity and leans heavily on punchlines. His music is fun, in ways that aren’t tinged with the post-apocalyptic bleakness of that first drill wave. In the past year, BabyChief has scored big viral hits with tracks like “Went West” and “The Viper.” Today, he’s got a new EP called Warning Shot. View the full article
  6. Last month Norwegian indie-pop musician Anna Of The North released the glistening, perfect-for-a-night-out anthem “Waiting For Love.” It was the follow-up to another funky one-off “Give Me Your Love Back.” Both are great songs to dance in the mirror to (speaking from personal experience). Today, she’s back with another undeniable pop banger called “Call Me.” View the full article

  9. A couple months ago, Courtney Marie Andrews returned with “Cons And Clowns,” her first new material since the 2022 album Loose Future. Now the Nashville-based, Phoenix-born singer-songwriter is announcing its follow-up, Valentine, arriving early next year. The second single “Keeper” is out today. View the full article
  10. The crispy, fussy, singular Chicago rapper Valee is once again operating at peak capacity. Valee is making a lot of music these days, and he’s fully tapped back into the singular flow that made him a figure of great online interest around the time that “Womp Womp” dropped in 2018. Last year, Valee teamed up with MVW, a former contemporary classical composer who reinvented himself as an underground rap producer, to release the beautifully titled collaborative album, Valeedation. A few months ago, Valee appeared on the MVW-produced Boldy James track “Whatchu Think.” Now, Valee and MVW are running it back and dropping another collaborative album. View the full article

  15. Back in August, Paramore leader Hayley Williams released her solo album Ego Death At The Bachelorette Party. Williams has done a whole lot of interviews to promote the record, but she doesn’t seem to have any plans to tour behind the record. When she does perform those songs live, however, they go hard. A few weeks ago, she sang “True Believer” on The Tonight Show. Last night, Williams released the bonus track “Good Ol’ Days,” and she also played an handful of Ego Death songs live for the first time. View the full article

  18. Exactly one month ago, Turnstile had a rather unfortunate incident where a sheriff’s deputy pepper sprayed a concert-goer in the face. There’s a viral video of the incident where bassist Franz Lyons can be seen covering his eyes and warning vocalist Brendan Yates to step back. The incident has been under investigation, and now there’s more footage that’s been released regarding the situation. View the full article

  20. In 2023, all-time synthpop legends Depeche Mode released Memento Mori, their first album since the death of founding member Andy Fletcher, and they headed out on a global arena tour. Now, the group is planning to release a new live movie and album that’ll capture a set at Mexico City’s Foro Sol Stadium. Later this year, they’ll release their concert movie M on DVD and Blu-ray, and they’ll also drop the accompanying live album Memento Mori: Mexico City. View the full article
  21. In 2009, wily pop star Lily Allen released her magnum opus It’s Not Me, It’s You. It was campy and searing and irreverent and honest. Sixteen years later, she’s come full circle with an album that’s completely different, but just as significant (upon first listen). West End Girl‘s closer “Fruityloops” finds Allen coming to terms with the devastation of a relationship whirlwind. “It’s not me, it’s you/ It’s what you’ve always done, it’s what you’ll do,” she sings during the slinky bossa nova chorus. West End Girl isn’t as energized or cheeky as It’s Not Me, It’s You, but it is her strongest and most cohesive album since. Here, Allen trades in diverse, playful soundscapes for woozy and cinematic compositions that emphasize her brutal lyrical revelations. View the full article
