Big Time 80s
Big Time 80s Big hits. Deep cuts. Flashback flavor. It’s not just 80s—it’s Big Time 80s. WHAT IT IS: Big Time 80s is your weekly celebration of the greatest decade in music. Hosted by Gary Teel, each episode blends the biggest stars with surprise throwbacks, spotlight segments, themed sets, and a little 80s attitude. WHAT YOU’LL HEAR: ● Songs you loved. Songs you forgot. Songs you didn’t know you needed. ● Spotlight Artist each hour ● Themed segments like Thematic Overload, Mixtape Memory, and Big Time Top 3 ● Smart stories, nostalgic nods, and zero filler ABOUT YOUR HOST: Gary Teel is a longtime radio pro, music historian, and proud child of the 80s. If it charted, flopped, rocked, or synth-popped—he probably owns it on vinyl. WHEN TO LISTEN: Airs weekly right here. Check your station’s schedule and join the flashback!

Cam’ron Sues J. Cole
Nowadays I often forget J. Cole ever had a role in the Kendrick Lamar/Drake beef. But before there was “Not Like Us,” there was Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” on which Kendrick made a guest appearance to declare: “Motherfuck the big three, it’s just big me.” That line was referencing Cole’s previous claim dubbing himself, Kendrick, and Drake today’s “Big Three” emcees. In April 2024, Cole bitterly responded with the surprise mixtape Might Delete Later, which was relatively forgotten after the “Not Like Us” craze. Now, Cole is reportedly being sued over a song off that tape, but not for the reason you might think. View the full article

Watch Thundercat & Remi Wolf Perform “Children Of The Baked Potato” On Colbert
Last month Thundercat tapped Remi Wolf for their collab single “Children Of The Baked Potato,” a burst of jazz-pop named after the famed hole-in-the-wall Los Angeles jazz club that only serves baked potatoes. The Convenience – “Angel”
Earlier this year, New Orleans post-punk duo the Convenience released their very good album Like Cartoon Vampires. Today, the band follows that LP with a new one-off single that has nothing whatsoever to do with cartoon vampires, even though it’s almost Halloween and everything. Their latest track is called “Angel.” If anything, angels are the opposite of cartoon vampires. They’re at least enemies. I’m pretty certain of that. If a vampire and an angel saw each other in a bar, maybe it wouldn’t be on sight, but they’d at least glare at each other surreptitiously. View the full article

US Women’s Water Polo Hypeman Flavor Flav Is Pivoting To Bobsled And Skeleton For Next Olympics
Last year, Public Enemy hypeman extraordinaire Flavor Flav took it upon himself to sponsor the US Women’s Water Polo team on their way to the Paris Olympics. It worked! Flav became the team’s official hypeman, and the team — well, they didn’t win the gold. They came in fourth, which seems like the worst possible outcome for an Olympic hopeful. But they competed! And now, Flav has turned his attention to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, and he’s now the official hypeman for Bobsled And Skeleton USA. View the full article

The Twilight Sad – “Waiting For The Phone Call” (Feat. Robert Smith)
Almost exactly 19 years ago, heavy-hearted Scottish indie rockers the Twilight Sad became a Stereogum Band To Watch. All these years later, the Twilight Sad are still going. These days, they’re probably best-known as the permanent opening act for the Cure. Anytime the Cure announce a new tour, you can be pretty sure that the Twilight Sad will join them. Cure frontman Robert Smith is a big Twilight Sad fan and supporter who’s called them his favorite band and who covered their song “There’s A Girl In The Corner” a decade ago. Now, the Twilight Sad are back with their first single in six years, and it features Robert Smith on guitar. View the full article

Animal Collective’s Geologist Announces Debut Solo Album Can I Get A Pack Of Camel Lights?: Hear “Tonic”
Here’s something funny: Brian “Geologist” Weitz is the only Animal Collective member who has never released a solo album. Geologist has been plenty busy outside of the main band, especially lately. Earlier this year, Geologist and Doug Shaw, aka D.S., released their collaborative LP A Shaw Deal, so that’s kind of a solo album. Also, Geologist is a member of the psych-rock super-trio Motherfuckers JMB & Co.; their very good full-length Music Excitement Action Beauty came out over the summer. And early next year, Geologist will finally join the ranks of Animal Collective members with solo albums. View the full article
