Radiohead have faced pretty persistent backlash from pro-Palestinian activists and the Boycott, Divestment, And Sanctions (BDS) movement since they played Tel Aviv in 2017. That backlash has only amplified since Israel began their genocidal campaign on Palestine in October 2023, and the band’s responses in the past two years haven’t done much to help their case: Jonny Greenwood has doubled-down on his collaborations with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa, and when a pro-Palestine heckler interrupted Thom Yorke’s Melbourne show back in May, Yorke responded by storming offstage. Yorke later issued a long-winded statement equating Israel’s “ultra-nationalist administration” with Hamas’ October 7 attacks, and suggesting he was the subject of a “social media witch-hunt.” But now that Radiohead are about to go on tour again, the members have more to say about how Israel’s genocide makes them feel.
